Another great find on CL 1970CST/10 short step
every once in a while i roll up on a truck that i just can't pass up. this time it was a 1970 CST/10 short bed step side. this was straight , and rust free. i saw it on CL the ad had a small picture with a vague description on it. it turned out to be a very well optioned truck . here are some pictures of my $1200 score. i just brought it home the other night. like i don't have enough trucks to work on. so the day after i brought it home a fried of mine came by the house to see it , who knew he would have cash in his pocket? well lets just say i'll starting a new build next week for my friend. the plan is to get this back together and running , then we'll talk about the extras. i still can't get over how many trucks are still out here in California.

Re: Another great find on CL 1970CST/10 short step
so this truck had a tilt, tach and a brand new interior, five lug disc brakes. it turns out the original owner was restoring the truck, but ended up passing away . the family parked the truck out back and it sat for 12 years. so there are some parts missing , like a motor, and trans but i have a few of those so we should be good. my buddy George is going to get a nice truck when i'm done with it. more pictures to follow.

that sounds like a plan. i just need to come up with a good name for the build. i already have two going right now. Project Chili Verde on the 67-72 truck build , and project Orange Crush on the blazer build page . check them out if you get a chance. cheers.

Re: Another great find on CL 1970CST/10 short step
here are some new pictures to update this build. just waiting for the big brown delivery truck to get here with some parts from Early Classic. i just hope they send me the parts they make and not some other companies stuff. i ordered EC drop spindles and the sent me McNaughty's spindles. whats up with that noise? i put the bed on my truck just to get it out of the way. the guy i'm building the truck for came by and tripped out . i think he wants my truck now.

Re: Another great find on CL 1970CST/10 short step
much over due update.... George the guy i built this truck for is very happy with his ride not too bad for building it with mostly recycled parts. here we go with some pictures. Torque thrust wheels and tire for $100.00 on CL not too bad.All we need to do is paint the truck and he's good to go.

My truck has the exact same clear coat coming-off pattern. Bums me out that it was cleared at all - if it was just paint, it'd fade and last longer. That is one sweet little truck!

Nice work. I am jealous of you guys. Up here that truck would cost you close to $5000.
This past weekend I went and looked at 69 short fleet with no motor or tranny, no useable body panels and to top it off, the frame was bent. The guy wouldn't budge from $1500. That's how hard they are to come by here. It sucks.

That Stepside is pure and simple perfection. It's always been my desire to live in a land where I could play with these trucks at will. I'm jealous and where are my priorities???!

Re: Another great find on CL 1970CST/10 short step
you guys i eat and sleep these trucks.... you should see the one i'm going to look at on Friday. if i get it i'll post pic ASAP. the whole idea for me is to buy the trucks with the parts that i need then share the rest with all my buddies on the East coast that don't get the opportunity to find these old trucks. If you guys are ever in Auburn,Ca . Hit me up and we can chill and talk trucks over a cold beer.. Tony

Re: Another great find on CL 1970CST/10 short step
I'm long overdue a visit out there. I could spend a lot of time out there and not even wear out a welcome, with so many to see. I'd only hope to have enough time at each stop to drink at least a few beers Oh yeah, and check out the trucks too.
