Cluster Removal Question

I want to take out my gages to fix some burned out bulbs and try and diagnose my non-working fuel gage. I was wondering how the headlight and wiper switches come out? They seem to be holding in the bezel. It looks like the switches have a trim piece that screws in holding the bezel in, but I don't know how the knobs come off. Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Cluster Removal Question

Wiper knob has a small screw at the base, the headlight switch has a small button to push in to release it you will access that by reaching up under your dash feel around the back of the swithch till you find it.

Re: Cluster Removal Question

Yeah Wiper knob has a very small screw on it

Lights have a small button at the top of the switch, you'll have to push in button and wiggle/pull on switch.

Re: Cluster Removal Question

It should come off pretty easy, its a little tiny brass tubing nut. Use a tube nut wrench to keep from stripping it if you have one. Did you check to make sure the wire for the fuel guage is plugged into the fuse box. It won't work without it. I kept kicking mine out is how I know. Good luck.

Re: Cluster Removal Question

it takes more effort to remove the panel than it does to replace the bulbs with it installed. You can also see most of the circuit on the back side too.
Whats the fuel guage do? Most of those isses end up being either a bad float or a damaged wire from the tank.

I got the bulbs changed without disconnecting the oil pressure line. The gas gauge hasn't worked since I got the truck in January. The wire seems to be connected from tank to fuse panel, but I get nothing. I have a new sender on back order from Summit, but I wanted to see if the gauge could be disconnected or something.

Re: Cluster Removal Question

Gas gauge reading way past full = open circuit
Gas gauge reading below empty = grounded circuit
