What did you get done 3/20/11 edition

Ive not been able to do anything chevy related in months. We did get the body work done on the ranger that we just bought ( scratch dent on the rear quarter) and put our plastics on both trucks but other than that weve been doing mostly work with our real estate company

How about you all>

Got the old tank out and the "new" one in but the neck on the new tank is smaller. Just another snag to try and deal with.

Re: What did you get done 3/20/11 edition

On my old dually, I got all the 87 fuel injected donor wiring in the dash, all ducts in place, column, cluster and all that. I've got about 20 hours just in getting all the dash stuff just so. It's better than GM put it together.

Not truck related really, but my buddy came over to the shop and we powdercoated his minibike. He's about to dive into the powdercoating gig so I'm teaching him what I can and letting him get his feet wet before he commits to buying his own rig.

Re: What did you get done 3/20/11 edition

I took a weekend off from working all together. Kind of nice to just sit in the house and play with the kids. Tonight we all ventured out for dinner and stopped at the parts store to get the engine paint. I will start cleaning and painting the engine this week.

Re: What did you get done 3/20/11 edition

Did some exhaust work on my my friends dads new 2011 SS. Removed the huge mufflers and replaced them with DynoMax Bullets... sounds good and clean. Also printed out my templates I made for my 2.5 Y tip... worked out perfectly.

went from 3d:

to flat pattern (just one 3 templates:

Wasnt sure how it would turn out but everything matched up perfectly...ran out of daylight so I didnt get a chance to weld all the pieces together nor redo my exhuast. My plan is to run it out the passenger side before the tire, similar to a factory Lightning

Nice, 6.2? I have a 6.5NA that is going on the stand after my 350 is done. Planning to strengthen the bottom end up, studding the heads, and making custom headers for twin turbos.

Re: What did you get done 3/20/11 edition

Finally got our taxes done!
With some warmer weather took time to work in the shop giving the daily 'get to work' car a spring clean-up and detailing. Definitely needed it after this winter. Actually looks new. GM was right about the Saturns and plastic body panels, too bad they dropped them from production.

Added some time working on the C-30 and finally pulled the old cracked oem dash.

Still working on the replacement.

A good week-end with the weather. Spring is here in the midwest!

Re: What did you get done 3/20/11 edition

Saturday I worked on my '50 a little, mounted the fuel cell and began mocking up the front fenders. Pretty soon I'll be taking everything back apart so I can finish welding chassis/cab/bed brackets Spent a couple hours on the computer chasing down parts.

Took a cruise over to a friends house early Sunday morning and worked on his "square" a few hours, gauges, tach and a new carb.

Everything I touched Saturday morning went bad. So I took the weekend off.

And now it's raining.

Re: What did you get done 3/20/11 edition

Put new headlights, taillight lenses, grill, & front bumper on my buddy’s 68 - And I installed a new headliner in his boys 90 x-cab Chevy. Started putting my front end back together after complete rebuild & paint in my 75, dropped the gas tank, driveshaft, exhaust & bed to get ready for cutting it down to a shortbed. Also went to the local yard & scored a mint 73 grill, turn signals & all brackets for the sweet price of $0.00

Re: What did you get done 3/20/11 edition

Actually got alot accomplished this week. Found my oem dash buried under a fiberglass cover. And the dash wasn't even in that bad of shape! Filled the whole in my gauge bezel where the radio goes. Picked up a set of rallye's for 150 and put some 295-50's on the back. Been working on trying to make a center console for my truck as well.

Keep us updated on the functionality of the elec door openers...

I had some on mine, and they were very intermittent. if i would shut the door to hard it would put the solenoid just enough out of adjustment so they would not work... this was years ago, maybe the newer ones are better now??
