Re: are 15" 5x5 steelies really that hard to find?
I called all around to find true 5x5 steelies.
Finally I found 4, 2- 15x6, and 2- 15x7, with the nubs to accept poverty caps. 25 bucks each at a truck/4x4 junkyard. Took 2 days of calling all around to find those...

Re: are 15" 5x5 steelies really that hard to find?
If you're looking for five lug wheels with the 5x5 bolt pattern, 1950's Mercury wheels (and perhaps Lincoln) have the right bolt circle and the correct nubs for the standard 10-1/8" hubcaps. They probably won't be easy to find either. Ford wheels from 1949 until the 60's, and 1954 and up in Chevy wheels, the hubcaps all interchange. Early Buicks and Oldsmobile also share the 5x5 bolt circle, but don't have nubs for standard hubcaps. 1960's Olds wheels do have the hub cap bumps, but only come in 14" rims that I've been able to find.
Also some will fit with disc brakes while others might not. It depends on the offset and width of the rims. |
