Air Shocks & PSI ??

I installed a set of Air Shocks on my sons truck and have never used a set before I'm not sure what the max PSI should be?

Seems like it starts raising around that 80-100 range but I don't want to get much higher thinkin I'll damage something.

If anybody can give me a baseline I'd appreciate it?

Minimum says 15psi
Testing says 40psi

Then it says to adjust to desired ride height but doesn't mention max. Can you max these out?

Here's a pic of these for reference:

Re: Air Shocks & PSI ??

Oh well, I found this out and thought I'd share it in case anybody else has similar questions:

Monroe Max-Air shocks are ideal for vehicles that occasionally tow trailers or haul loads. They are designed to maintain level vehicle height. Inflates and deflates from 20 psi to 150 psi., even while the vehicle is loaded.

About 10 years ago I ran monroe air shocks in my 88 civic, I used 6 ball valves, air plane grade air lines and a nitrogen tank pushing 400 p.s.i and I never once blew a line or a shock seal. it was awesome.

I'm not a fan of air-shocks, simply because the shock mounts were never designed to carry that kind of load. The upper mounts (studs) are "single shear" which is weak to start with and these frames are known to have issues with this anyway.

Well, the air-shock is a band-aid option if you will right now. The truck will be getting bagged next year and this year we just did a static drop (flipped leafs and lowering blocks). The Air-shocks are being used JUST to even the lift. There will be NO load on them except the bed weight.

Re: Air Shocks & PSI ??

the main thing with air shocks is it is normal for them to bleed down some over time so you always need to keep an eye on the pressure as running them without air will damage them very quickly// dad had a few caprice station wagons that they came from the factory with them as part of the heavy duty trailer package in the 70's-80's vintage
