Anyone use a S10 Bed floor in the 55-59 shortbed trucks?

Hello,
after going though some searches I found a few people using S10 bed floors in AD and TF trucks, anyone have some pics of the install?
im not a big fan of the wood beds... looking for a cheap alternative, the mini tubs would be helpfull too...
my original thought was just a piece of diamond plate... guess I could always go back to that route...

Other 'Steel' options to replace wood floor?

i have seen a 53 with an s-10 bed on it but with the factory rear fenders mounted on it and looked pretty good if your going in that direction. the only problem i could see with replacing just the floor is if the s-10 floor is going to wide enough for your bed but a little metal and welder can go along way.

I'm in the process of cutting up a steel floor to install. I found that the S10 and Ranger floors aren't a good length for my short box 56. BUT the 90's model Dakotas are the PERFECT length. I measured the Dakota floor at 1" longer than I need, and I'm trimming a few inches off the sides but retaining the factory wheel wells which will give me a 2" mini tub. Got my Dakota bed for $50.

pics of the floor as trimmed to drop in...still working out the mounting details as the 3rd rail back conflicts with my under bed gas tank.

Re: Anyone use a S10 Bed floor in the 55-59 shortbed trucks?

Thanks, this is pretty much just what i was looking for...
do you have a photo of the stock S10 mounting rails?
I was hoping to use the factory '55 rails to support the bed... but i guess to do that I would have to cut off the factory S10 rails... my tank under my bed is from a mustang and sits on the bottom lip of the frame rails, so the S10 stock mounting rails would probably work....
do you have a photo of the bottom side of the bed?
thanks again for the pics, your truck looks to be very far along from the backround photo!

What year S10 is best? or does it even matter?
I imagine the wheel bases didn't change much from the mid-80's model and the mid-90's model, I am guessing people use the 80's model? just for easier access to junked trucks...
Going to the local junkyard this weekend to see if i can scout out a floor... i think they will sell a whole bed for around $200 beats buying a whole truck. i have enough cars on my property

I am getting ready to put a 1995 s10 long bed floor in a 53 short bed. I already cut it out but I can take some pics of the bottom of it for you when I get a chance this weekend. How wide is the 55-59 bed?

Re: Anyone use a S10 Bed floor in the 55-59 shortbed trucks?

Mine is out of an 89-96 Dakota. The yard I went to had a ton of S10 and Ranger short beds but no long beds, and the short version is too short. The Dakota bed is 78 3/8 long and I need 77 3/8, I just cut the extra inch off the front end. That put the center of the wheel well around 37", exactly where it needs to be on a TF truck. The measurements for the TF I came up with are 77 3/8 long by 50 1/8 wide. The Dakota looks just like the S10 from the bottom. I may still end up using the stock rails as mounts but I 'll have to modify them to accept bolts from the bottom so all fasteners are hidden. It's just that the Dakota is a bigger truck and actually closer in size to a TF. I suspect the AD truck beds are smaller.
