Us body source has an article on a glass 47-54 chevy body on an S 10 frame. I dont know if there is enough detail to help you with mounts /dimentions, ect....but it should be "doable". Here is the link..... http://www.usbody.com/ you will have to dig through the site, they also have a 40 Ford on a ranger chassis & it looks like these early trucks fit pretty well on the "pint sized" truck chassis. Good luck, crazyL

Try this: http://www.usbodysource.com/Install%2047%20chevy.htm
IMHO an S-10 frame is too light for 1 -1/2 ton truck. Here's what I'm doing on my '57 Burb.. Mounting it on a '00 GMC chassis with Vortec running gear Mounted the body today but still need to move the rear end 3" forward so it will fit properly. |

Highboy, you definitely do not want to us an S 10 for your truck. The tires will look too small in those fender wells, plus the front axle will be too narrow. Being that you don't have a bed on it and it's currently a dually, why not use a full size 1/2, 3/4 or even a 1 ton '70-'80's ChevyGMC? Here's a pic of my '56 GMC on a '77 Chevy dually chassis with a big block that I'll be using to do my "running to Home Depot" truck. Good luck.

but where do i find a chasis like that on the cheap? i actually measured the wheel wells they arent as big as they seem. they are actually the same size as my 3/4 ton 67 chevy. i want to build some kinda street rod outta it maybe. i was thinkin also on maybe setting it on a 4x4 chasis. my options are still wide open because i havent started anything yet.

believe it or not those wheel well on my 67 in the pic are almost the exact same size as the ones on the 47.

I usually look in the local want ads, under "rebuildable" or "parting out". Where there's a "will", there's a "way". Good luck. BTW here's pics of my '56 Burb on the '00 GMC frame. I had to move the rear end 3" forward to center the front and rear tires in the wheel wheels. Just finished today. |
