Got a question for you guys.

I just noticed that when my headlight are on, my front side markers flash with the turn signal. Seems to me that on a '71 they should just be lit and not flash. I'm wondering if the PO might have wired it up funny.

Prob bad or wrong flasher. Try a new one, they are cheap.

Thanks for the ideas. I thought I remembered that the flasher would go faster with a higher load and slower with a lesser load like from a burnt our bulb. I swapped out both front bulbs today as I added clear lenses with amber 1157s and that made no difference in the flash rate.

I think I'll look at the flasher since it's faster on both left and right. If it was a bulb, it should affect one side.

Sorry, don't mean to take over but, i have a similar problem. (none of my side lights show life.) One of the front turn signals burnt out and replaced it. 2 secs after i tried the turn signals it went out again. The other side is still fine tho..

I'm converting all my trucks at have side makers to flash.Most people are to busy on the phone to pay attention to you.And are trucks are so poorly lit up I need all the help to let people i'm turning. Kinda wish the rear did it to.But i see they only had that option in 1971--72 Not to sure if they hand it in the more Deluxe trucks But i see it as a added bonus.i"m not one for guys shaving there side markers.its a safety device.sence trailer have them there has to be a reason why the federal government wanted them on the side of are trucks and car;s after 1967.To bad a few friends of mine had to figure that one out the hard way.Friend of mine was pulling out of a dark lite side road and the guy Hit him Brod side spoune him around and another car T boned him Just destroyed that $15,000 doller truck it took him over 10 years to build it.He later admitted if he would of had the side makers the guy would of honked his horn.He got sited for pulling out onto on coming traffic.

I do understand that most of us want to customize are trucks and car's.But leaving out the safety options is a Big risk on the builders and the owners.I'm all about safety I saw them New LED lights in a 1970 chevy truck to day.There way Brighter then i though they would be and They really got my attention when traffic abrumpley stopped. Man i need to get a set for my trucks.

Exa: found a constant hot wire just hanging down from under the dash...

I figured out how to have either "Steady on", or "Flashing" side markers, and it only has to do with how the side marker is wired. Here's how:
For a steady on application, wire the side marker so that one lead goes to ground and the other lead ties in to the front "running light" circuit, the one that powers the front bulb on the low, non-turn wire, usually brown.
For a flashing application, wire the side marker leads to the two hot wires of the front turn signal, and neither side marker lead goes to ground. When the headlights are off, the side marker will flash on and off in conjunction with the front turn signal. When the headlights and running lights are on, the side marker will flash on and off oppisite the front turn signal!
Hope this gives a little insight for anyone who might want to do some wiring!

Can you make it so the fender lights blink with headlights on at the same time as the bumper lights??

i want it the same blinking action even with head lights on....possible??

Might be possible with some relays, but I'm not sure. GM vehicles usually have the front and fender flashing opposite each other when the headlights are on. Keeps the wiring simple I guess.
But, anything is possible with a little experimentation!

with the parking lights off, they will flash together.
Once the parking lights are on, they will flash oposite of each other.
