Automatic On floor

I was in the process of pulling my old steering column 3 on tree manual but I am low on funs so I thought about just leaving it there and put my th350 and maybe just use a floor lever. I want it to look right in the truck. Maybe kinda look like a standard on the floor look. Anyone got pictures of examples I could use? I have a 67 c10lwb

Re: Automatic On floor

Lokar has good looking ones but to much. Actually I am looking for something That wouldnt cost so much like that. I am trying to look for something real cheap. If I was to buy a auto column I would not want to spent more than $100. I seen them online here and there for about that. If I go floor shift I buy the kit from like autozone or pep boys something like that. I just don't see myself spending that much for a floor shifter haha. Maybe I am just cheap? haha

Re: Automatic On floor

Ya get what ya pay for.

Hurst used to make a cool shifter that looked like a standard 4 on the floor. I think B&M makes one called the Uni-matic or somethingorother...

Re: Automatic On floor

Sometimes what you pay for cheap maybe great use. Or you pay to much and its crap? haha So i don't really go by that theory anymore I just don't want to mess this truck up like past cars. Cutting the floor and screwing things up. I want to take it slow and do it right and make it my style but not get out of hand. But cool ideas guys. I am gonna look up both stuff you guys posted maybe I find something good. You guys got any "PICTURES"? I know we all like that?

Re: Automatic On floor

I have been eyeballing this one for my th350. Looks like an original manual shifter. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LO...50AN/?rtype=10 Not 100 bucks but just a thought. I also included a pic of my B&M floorshifter I picked up for $120 at a swap meet and I later found the T-grip for like 8 or 9 bucks. Obviously my almost finished console isnt anywhere near stock but the shifter looks like it couldve been factory back in the day. The deals are out there but definitely not easy to find especially with all the yahoos on CL

Re: Automatic On floor

Find a auto column used and clean it up?...Seems cheaper than a $200 shifter?

Re: Automatic On floor

^^^ The same thing happened to one of the guys at work. I like mine since you have to pull up on the shifter to shift gears. I didnt like it at first but now I wouldnt go back to the push button safety. No button looks cleaner and doesnt get jammed up

Re: Automatic On floor

GEEZZ!!! Okay fine GASoline71 your right maybe you do get what you pay for haha. I have a ways to go still on the truck but just wanted ideas. We shall see. Cause if i am gonn pay I rather just get the whole column than have a floor shifter. I was just thinking of cheaper ways but I don't want to cut corners and cheat myself or die. GOTTA do it right the first time thats the goal for us all right?

thats the goal. Im tearing down my truck little by little which noone understands since it is almost done minus paint and a bed. But I know i cut a few corners and well, no better time than now to spend a little extra and do them right. If you really want a column shifter just keep saving for the column. No point in putting in a cheap floor shift just to have that on your list of things to change later on. I put mine on the floor cuz i have this big center console hiding my driveshaft tunnel and airvalves that only had switches and guages in it. The shifter kindof breaks up the big gray blob in the middle of the truck. Good Luck

Re: Automatic On floor

I've no pictures but I've been trying to make work a camaro shifter but the cable is to short, before I had manual trany on the floor and is to high I think is named Big hump
yesterday I was thinking about covering the floor with a piece of sheet metal to make it like low hump.
