Want to drop my 70 CST/10

Here's what I need help with. I just bought this truck this past Friday. I love the current stance and ride height of the truck... but the problem is that the previous owner got it to sit as it is in the following picture by heating the springs :S I have had a very close look, and nothing has been damaged as a result, as he never drove it like that.

My two major short-term goals with this truck are to do the engine swap from the current 402 BBC to my ready to go 454 BBC, and replace the squashed stock springs with lowering springs, and possibly drop spindle and disc brake conversion in the front.

My question for you guys is... what kit (what size springs etc.) should I be looking at to get the truck to sit as it does now, or even lower, but properly haha. I want to keep the 6 lug rims/tires I have on the truck currently.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I should add, I am also fine with keeping drumbs all the way around if there is a way to drop it enough without having to upgrade to a drop spindle in the front.

Anyone heard of Canuck Motorsports springs? I found a 3" front and 4" rear kit for $200 and $40 shipping from them. Would that drop ratio get me close to where it currently sits?

I would say your truck is close to a 4/6 drop.
This would require you to change to disc brakes and drop spindles up front.
(along with a few other suspension parts)
You can do a 3/5 drop with springs alone.
You would also need drop shocks, rear shock relocators and an adjustable rear track bar, to re-center the rear axle after lowering.
I would add a front sway bar if you don't already have one.

What kind of budget do you have for your lowering parts?

Re: Want to drop my 70 CST/10

Thanks lolife99. I was hoping to not have to do anything but the springs right away (as I won't be driving it anyways, and finish with the spindles etc. later on when I have more money). The only reason I want to start on the suspension right now is that its really bugging me how the springs are right now on it (torched and compressed) and would like to check that off the to-do list as soon as possible lol

If you don't have the cash right now to do it right,... I personally,... would just wait.

Like alot of other threads,... the springs are just the beginning of the drop.
There's alot more to it than just swapping them out.

Re: Want to drop my 70 CST/10

Maybe I'll concentrate on the 454 swap right now, then hopefully save up enough over the summer to get the kit from Early Classic Enterprise. Guess it just means no cruisin this summer haha.
