Billet Steering column and dash help
Does anybody know where I can get the replacement "shields" or covers that are billet to replace the black painted stock column in my 77 Silverado? I am also interested in getting a high quality billet dash for it as well. i hve seen some that are of questionable quality, but want something really nice. I just had the interior done (caprpet, headliner, seat and dash, and wnat to replace the faded old walnut grain dash. I'd like something I could use stainless allen screws as fasteners.
Thanks in advance, guys. |

I don't know about the steering column. Probably the best you can do is have it chromed or get a chromed one from another truck & modify it to make it fit.
The best you can do is a billet insert that "glues" and screws into the front. You have to take the old walnut trim off first - some are super easy like mine (you just pull & it comes off as one piece) or it will be a bouger and you'll have to sit there with a razor blade for about 2 hours. I have experience with Carriage Works and have to say they are top notch. Trenz had good quality stuff. Empire is another brand but I have no experience with them.

Empire Motorsports makes some great billet accessories for the 73-87 trucks, including dash pieces.
I have seen some steel column covers, can't remember where. Have not seen billet covers. I know Juliano's has a plastic cover for the enitre column. good luck! Last edited by CustomChevy; 03-23-2003 at 11:20 AM. |
