ford & ih trucks
while looking for a truck to use around the house and to run to work now and then i found this 70 Sport Custom on CL and snagged it up. drove and rode nice on the ride home and 1st thing i did was remove the rotted out wooden topper, rides even better. need to replace the exhaust donuts, tires and a few bulbs here and there and fix the horn and it can be inspected
also bought this 51 IH L112 for cheap, will most likely just flip it but not sure at this point

was lucky enough to bring the IH home today. the engined turned over by hand, so i thu a battery in it and jumped the soleniod and it cranked alittle as the starter seems real weak, not sure what im going to do with it yet. my buddy did offer me a chevy 250/6 banger and 350 turbo for dirt cheap. anyway a few pics
and one of the ford with the topper off of it, it looks alot better

the IH is actually better shape then what my 60 dodge was before i started in on it, hel i should just tho the inline chevy and trans in then do brales and drive it around

Man, I love those early binders. My buddy restored a '50-'51 L110 (I think). A sharp lookin' truck.
On that note, get it running and stopping, and rock it! It's such a cool old truck, and with patina being "in", I say give 'er. -Sam.

i like your half breed, i was wandering the about using a 67-72 chassis or atleast the front suspension clip and rear my IH, i just dont remember what the tract width is for these years csmith nice travelall, i remember seeing a drawling that Stanford had done a few years ago of one that was slammed and the back shortened like 12" or so

Heck, if measurements worked out close, you could even use the rear trailing arm setup too! All that is is the crossmember in the middle. I did tons of research before i started mine. I didnt really want the Binder chassis as i wanted something a little more common (or ALOT more common ) that i could easily find parts for. Hence the C10! The S10 chassis was way to light duty for my taste. Those chassis im sure are plenty strong but i liked the C10 better. Plus i hope to be able to haul a bobber motorcycle in the bed on the way to the local shows too |

Can do. The crossmember mounts on the bottom surface of the frame w/ 3 bolts as well as the outside surface with another 3 bolts.
The steering box has 3 bolts on the outside frame surface the the passenger side support has 2 bolts on the outside of the frame. I'll take measurements of all locations this afternoon and post em up. Posted via Mobile Device |

I have an IH problem as well. Rebuilding a 392 as we speak for my unrestored 69 Travelall. Also a 71 P/U "Heavy Half" w 59,000 miles and a 78 Scout II w 54,000 original miles. If you want to see how sick I really am I also have 2 other Scouts, a 49' Farmall Super A, and an early 1900's 3hp IHC "Famous" Engine. Got hooked on thoose Scouts as a kid and just cant get enough of the old IHC's!

Outside frame rail at front of crossmember is 29" Outside frame rail at back of crossmember is 29 7/8" Bottom mounting holes also follow this narrowing path. Middle holes are 26 7/8" center to center. The back one is 27" center to center. The front one is 26 3/4" center to center. The passenger side support for the track bar is mounted slightly rearward in comparison of the steering box. The measurements between the ball joint on the support on the passenger side and the ball joint on the pitman arm is 30 7/8". This will change depending on alignment needs. The exact placement of the support arm really doesn't need to be exact (as colse as you can will work) as the track bar can move throughout its range still as long as the back to front angle matches the pitman arm of the drivers side. (I should clarify that i mean minor left to right placement. Front to back placement and angle should remain as close as possible to stock to keep things in line.) Here are a few pictures. thanx jml, it looks like it would be an easy bolt in for the IH, just have to see about total hub-hub track width. i sold off the ford yesterday as i was offered a good price for it. oh yea and didnt you know Chevy's are the universal parts cars and trucks for all other models

Oddly enough, i dont. but YOU my friend, just gave me the excuse to roll it out this weekend and get one! (edit) Actually i have this one. But its horrible! This is right when i got the chassis, removed the springs, before the 6" zee and before the 3" section. So the cab is 9" lower then this now. Here are a few of where its at today.
I only have 2 wheel adapters (for the rear) so only the drivers side has the right wheel/tires. I'm waiting for the disk conversion up front to mount everything up right. The first picture is sitting with the frame layed out, parked. The second is at the ride height. |

Any of you IH guy able to identify this bracket. I am putting my 392 ci for my Travelall back together and I cant remember where this thing goes. Thought I would figure it out as I went back with everything but I have not, lol. I made no reference to it in my notes so it must be something obvious. Any help is appreciated.
