Hubcap Ideas?
Been searching around for hubcaps (and/or rings) now for a while and just can't seem to make up my mind on what I want to do.
Not necessarily looking for "year correct" caps, just something that will look cool on a lowered 69 stepper with stock steelies that are painted black. Thoughts and pics are greatly appreciated. |

Re: Hubcap Ideas?
Buddy just do a thread search for wheels and you will get an eyefull of various wheel types and combinations.

Re: Hubcap Ideas?
Chevys are easy. I like all the car caps from the '50s into the '70s. The '60s look best,IMO

Re: Hubcap Ideas?
I believe the 62 caps shown were a carry over from 61 as well, and yeah they do look good, especially on a 409 Bubble top Bel Air, but would look just as good on our trucks.

That looks great! Where'd you get the rears from? What size tires are you running?

So do all of the above caps fit our OEM wheels? I have done some searching around and the info you get is different from source to source. For the above caps I have found measurements from 10" ID to 10 1/2" ID and everything in between for each one except the truck caps. |

Yep. All of the GM caps back to around '55 will fit. I had to stop myself from collecting more. I stopped at five full sets. The only others that I would like to have are a set of 60's COPO style caps. I've got two. I'll find a couple more some day. I have had good luck combing junkyards for repairable caps, and have bought some on ebay. Most of the reproductions are not that great, and pretty expensive. I've gotten pretty good at restoring damaged ones. It's easier than one would think. I restored all of the caps in the picture. Some of them were pretty banged up. Here's a thread I did on hubcap repair about a year ago.

Re: Hubcap Ideas?
The wheel in my av is an aftermarket and the moon cap on it is the kind that snaps with an inside ring. I really would have liked an older poverty style cap like in jhwkns collection. Im pretty sure those are all snap over nub though.

Re: Hubcap Ideas?
I actually bought an NOS set like jhwkns has, the far left Caprice/Impala style, on Ebay. $40 for all four.
