of msd stock dist. modual.. if you get a billet dist.about 200.00 (a great one)what i run, with a msd 6 al box it comes with a rev. limiter, Wind it up baby check it out...the only thing i would buy!! i also have a msd multi function control box thats really cool can retard on start-up..set burn out rev. limit. trans brake rev limit so on so on & so on...must check out MSD mark |

I agree with Mark, the 6AL is an excellent investment.
You can also get a MSD hei module for your current distributer...that will help as well. You might not gain lots of power here, but throttle response will be better making your truck leave the line quicker and run better overall. -Jeff |

What about the 6A? Do you really need the 6AL with the rev limiter?

what to do
hay ,,,,you need to decide if you want your old dist. with just a
new msd controll modual ,,,,or make the big leap and spend $400.00 and buy a new dist. and controll box thats what i would do(the big leap) it will be the best thing you did CHECK OUT THIS WEB SITE www.msdignition.com...... if your dist.is a(4 pin) coil#pn8225----module#pn8364..... these two parts will liven up your stock system.... they also have (the ultimate hei kit) pn#8501 which includes cap&rotor with the two parts above..... msd super hei kit pn#8400 (6a control box)no rev limiter comes with coil-box-coil wire-coil bracket-hei dust cover the whole bit .......you pull the old stuff out and throw it as far as you can (hit the mustange next door) WHOOOO all that to use your old dist. spent about 1/2 hr. looking up these parts hope you do something with this.....MARK Last edited by rage'nrat638; 03-23-2003 at 01:09 AM. |

Yuo know, I might get a Pertronix. but speaking for the cheapskates out there, when I recurved my dist, I put a Supercoil on it, and it has been great. Of couse not as good as repalcing the whole system, but good nonetheless. I get a nice, purple-white spark, as opposed to the reddish blue of the stock coil.

Stay away from Petronix. I know a few guys who have ran them in different vehicles and had nothing but problems. I would stay away from them from what I have seen and heard.
EDIT: Oh yeah I have the msd ignition module and coil. Everything runs fine and smoother then stock. Didnt really notice any difference except idle is smoother and it dropped my idle speed down. I bumped it back up, thought it was odd that it changed that.
