I just did something crazy!
Hehehe, I just finished sawing off my exhaust, and am now running straight pipes!! From the headers, I have about 6ft of pipe, and that's it!
It's LOUD!!! My old one was TRASHED from rust! So many holes in it, I could stick my finger through it, and my finger would pop out the other side! Wonder if I will get caught! LOL Anyone recommend a good muffler?

Ah i've been driving my Grand Marquis around Winnipeg, past many cops for more than a year and it's exhaust ends right at the drivers feet it's really loud! Neighbors don't really like it though!

Just feather the gas when you travel by the cops, nothin like straight pipes, we use to call them scavengers,we put a set on my buddys 67 chevelle when we were 16,many years ago, they were aluminum pipes off stop sign poles, don't need to tell you how we got them.JoeTheMobster I bet they rap real nice

I believe that sleepy feeling is carbon monoxide seeping into the cab from the pipes being cut short..............
That's one reason the muffler shop will only put them in certain locations..........

Krue, I hope you're kidding about the sleeping comment!!
No worries about the CO here though, going too fast for it to seep in!! LMAO!:p I will indeed check out the "Purple Hornies"

That sleepy feeling is a direct result of your straight pipes.....
Much like putting a ticking alarm clock in a puppy's bed so it won't howl at night (it thinks it mom's heart...).... By the way for a good clean sound, still loud, and very little impact to your performance I recomend Dyno Max Mufflers..... Oh by the way, nice try but a little tame to be called "Crazy"

Joe, half kidding. Seriously tho, my pipes ended just behind the cab and after a little while I would definitely get a headache for that good ol' CO, I just welded some glass packs on, but that was back when I was young dumb and broke.
Now I'm just dumb and broke, musta been the CO |

Yeah, I know it's pretty mild Ludwig, guess I was just overcome by the sound of the cut off pipes behind the 350! Came flying in, logged on, and made an entry. Then about 5 minutes later, I wanted to rename the post to along the lines of recommending a muffler. I got some suggestions...and I think I might look at the "purple hornies" if for nothing else, just the name!!
