1947-53 Engine Swap 6.0/5.3

I've been trying to track down some information on swapping a 5.3/6.0 into a early chevy truck (1947-53) and haven't really been able to find a comprehensive website or post. I'm sure there is something out there but if someone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

At this time, I am trying to track down an suitable project vehicle, but today stumbled across a possibly decent LQ9 6.0L that a co-worker has had sitting around from an abandoned project. He wants to get rid of it and is asking ~$300. This seems like a good price for motor, accessories, and ECM, but my only reference point is what they are going for on Ebay. I'm new to the game and have a lot to learn; are there any inherent issues with the 6.0, are rebuild parts readily available, what tranny should I use for optimum highway cruising etc...?

Again, this will be my first project and need some better guidance than what I've ran across. Thanks in advance for any advice!

If you do a search on the topic there are threads on it. Plenty of people doing it these days.

Just go to the main thread listing and input LQ9 under the Search button, there's a bunch of posts there!

Check out the 52' I'm building. If you don't buy that engine let me know.

Re: 1947-53 Engine Swap 6.0/5.3

I talked to guy offering the 6.0 today and we are going to try and meet up Sunday to make the trade. I picked up a couple SA design how-to books today about LS rebuilds and LS swaps; they appear to have good step-by-step instructions.

Do guys usually fab up their own engine mounts for these old trucks or are there aftermarket mounts out there? I have looked on Street & Performance and various other sites but have not found anything.
