many shims in UCA ?

well, i have probably an inch or more worth of shims on the UCA on both sides. just looking for a reason why previous owner would do this. yes it is lowered, i know for sure there is an aftermarket coil in there, do you think that the coils are cut and stock spindle to retain better alignment?

sorry no pics...trucks still in storage

Re: many shims in UCA ?

Cut or drop coil only set-ups will use more shims vs. drop spindles + drop/cut coils. Determining what spindles you have will help provide insight to your concern.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: many shims in UCA ?

Ive got 3 inch spindles and cut springs(roughly 2.5 ") on the front of mine, and the alignment shop did the same thing to mine.. the UCA is shimmed out pretty far, and the alignment guy said he almost ran out of threads. So I wouldnt worry about it to much as long as it was done by an alignment shop.. but who knows??? The previous owner could have done it himself..

Re: many shims in UCA ?

Mine has 2.5'' spindles a 2'' Coils. LOTS of shims. I actually installed longer grade 8 bolts and removed the stock studs so the shop could properly shim. MOOG sells an offset piece as well for this purpose.

Again.... depends on what you currently have. Figure that out & work from there. Bags might get you a little lower @ ride height so there's the possibility more shims could be required. But when air'd out, the alignment doesn't really 'matter' since you wouldn't drive it like that (thus no need to align it for that task).
