Original radio installation speaker / hook up problem
I got my original 1970 c10 GM AM radio reconditioned the other day and I hooked it up with the speaker and antenna with no problem started working just fine so then I notice I forgot to put the mounting bracket on the back of the radio and bolt it up so I took out my radio and put the bracket on with the screws and hooked everything back up and nothing..... I have power to the radio because the light bulb is on in the radio so I know its getting power but, no sound at all. Can somebody please help me fix this problem????

Turn up the volume? Seriously though, all I can say is double check everything. Make sure the plugs in the back of the radio are all clean and making good contact. Make sure neither of the wires attached to the speaker have broken and come loose. Check where things ground out too, make sure those areas are clean too! Are you using an OEM or aftermarket speaker?

I'm using a aftermarket speaker from classic truck parts of america. It kind of looks like an original one.

did you pull on the wires and unplug the wires(or one) from the speaker?
if not.. I'd call the shop that fixed it.. if your sure everything is hooked up.. |

I got it working. I cleaned the contacts and I didn't hook the speakers up right. Oh well its working now. Thank you all for the information and your time.
