filling in the interior cab corners on AD cabs..
how are you guys filling in the gap at the back corners of the cab?
my idea lastnight was to weld on an "extension" of the floor out to meet the outer cab wall.. but use flexible seam sealer to connect the gap to the wall. Im mostly worried about cab and floor flex making it pull the body and putting a wave in the outer panel... but i need to seal off my cab the rest of the way... (keep out noise, fumes, etc.. and keep the AC and heat inside) |

That's what I did except I didn't worry about cab flex. Just welded it in.

Me too, spot welds to the corner exterior metal then seam sealer at the joints. I also welded to the floor and door jamb brace. No evidence of metal warpage on the outside.

This link was sent to me by another member,
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...97#post4375697 Its for a Task Force and not a Advance Design truck, but it gave me the answer to my problem. I didnt like the idea of a straight 90* floor to outer sheetmetal joint. That just showed me the brilliant idea to make a curved piece. so simple, It just made me have one of those "UREKA!" moments. |

Re: filling in the interior cab corners on AD cabs..
I guess I will clearify my post a bit more. I made a template just like Orrie's but made it 1/2" bigger and folded the edge over 90 degrees. I then spot welded it to the body. Used seam sealer inside the cab. No problems as of yet but I do have a fleetside so you don't see to much of that area of the cab from the outside, plus I haven't prepped it for paint yet.

I have a TF 59, I assume the procedure would be the same for an AD. Orrie's is a TF as well.
