I don't think anyone makes that chrome strip, I had looked a while back for my console, and I had to buy a used strip. Got lucky it's in really good conition. Try looking in the parts section or on e-bay for console parts.

look for a member "classic bowtie" i was just buying a console from him and he had about 5 extra of those chrome strips.

i still have my old one, do you think it would be worth the cost to get it re-chromed? i also have the bowtie that needs attention too.

i was looking at it and im thinking the same thing, kind of hard to tell on mine because Po painted over it.

try using steel wool to remove the paint/rust.

WOAH THERE!!! never use steel wool on satinless. your stainless wont be as corosion resistant. u will get little orange rust specs. just use some metal polish like rim cleaner. just make sure its safe for stainless

On the console I got I think somebody tried using steel wool cuz I got the little orange rust specs. What works good getting the rust spots out?

i wish i would have taken before and after pics, the po painted it about three different colors so i used Klean strip to remove the old paint. http://www.kleanstripauto.com

I started sanding with 200 and work my way up to 1000 and then polished with some compound. i think it looks great and will work.

When you striped the console with the Klen Strip what did you use to remove the bubbled off paint without ruining the texture of the bare plastic? I would think a scraper would mess up the texture.

i just followed the instructions even though it says not recommended for use on fiberglass, plastics or any other synthetic surfaces. it ended up working great.

i tried using a plastic scraper and didnt get good results so i tried a putty knife and it worked great with light pressure. it worked good because it would remove the paint and if you started scratching the texture it would turn white, so it's easy to tell. It looks like crap when your done, and you think the texture wont come out nice, but once you wash it with dish soap and paint it, it looks great
