Another 4.8 question

i have a 4.8 chevy truck motor. the guy it came from said it has a better crank, better rockers and cam. will the stock injectors still work if i get a better computer and will they need to be changed?

Re: Another 4.8 question

Better than what? stock? or?

If you are pushing the motor more, you will need more fuel, so possibly higher flow injectors, new PCM, no. the tune could need to be a performance tune though.

The cam specs will need to be had and if there is aftermarket pistons and such, that info would be needed.

Re: Another 4.8 question

this was coming from a guy that sold it to the guy i got it from. didnt have much time to talk to him and find out what he put in it. he just said aftermarket crank, cam and rockers. i asked the question on here about running carb on it or staying with fuel injection and everyone tells me to stay with FI. i just wasnt sure if it would run right on the stock FI equipment that i have.

Re: Another 4.8 question

I would be almost positive hes lying about the crank..
No one buys an aftermarket crank for a 4.8... rockers are easy to check, and the cam is common to change.

Re: Another 4.8 question

I agree with Mr Dude, it wouldnt make sence when a 5.3 or 6.0 is a better option for big power. The only reason I can think of using the 4.8 for a hot rod motor would be for turbo or something like that and I wonder if the aftermarket stuff would be needed anyway.

Is there anyway you can look at the parts, crank/cam and such to see some numbers maybe?
