Would anyone be willing to give an opinion on a truck for me, please. I could email you all of the info. I just don't know enough to make a good call on this one. Thanks

Re: Need an opinion on a truck.
Honestly, I wouldnt pay more then 2000 for it. And to some that even might be too high. The main thing that I dont like about it is the rust that has eaten through the body panels.

Re: Need an opinion on a truck.
I mean, yeah. The engine looks to be in pretty good shape, the frame looks the be in pretty good shape (although I saw rust on the crossmembers, so I don't know if there's more hiding somewhere...) interior looks great besides the bench and a little rip in the floor, and the bed looks to be in good shape too from what I could see under that mismatched liner. The only thing that catches the eye is that body rust and even then the body is in pretty good shape for its age. A hell of a lot more thn could be said for mytruck, and I paid $1000 for it, so this one could definitely be worth that much. It could use some talking down, but it's worth it.

Re: Need an opinion on a truck.
If it was a California or Arizona rust free truck, I'd think it was a square deal...but the rust you can see is only the tip of the iceberg...I think you'd be better off budgeting $1000 for a long weekend trip to Texas or Georgia or something and driving back in a rust free truck

Re: Need an opinion on a truck.
Great condition?????
That would be original condition or average condition with maybe good mechanical maintenance. I see so many trucks around that guys have sunk a lot of money into and are selling for a fraction of what they put in. Around here trucks like that range from $1200 on the low to $4500 at the maximum side. I have a 1988 Jimmy 4x4 that I will try to sell locally once I get the papers cleared from an estate. It is rusty in the rear wheel wells and needs exhaust work, but other wise OK. 350 with 700R4 and 84,000 original miles. I hope to get $1700 for it. $2500-$3000 seems in the right range

Re: Need an opinion on a truck.
Too much rust... all the owner did was take a can of black paint and sprayed over all the oil and rust on the under side. Maybe $1500... JMO.

Re: Need an opinion on a truck.
Well i would agree with Kanuck about 3000 tops and thats certified!
before going out of your way for it ask for pics of the cab mounts....looks lower then box? strange gap at bottom of grill...or just diff colour? maybe the tailgate isn't closed all the way....the right is further out? keep in mind theose rust holes around the wheels etc will grow when opened up

Re: Need an opinion on a truck.
Thanks for posting this for me. I appreciate all of your opinions and the craigslist link. I think I'm going to stay away from the rust. I'm looking for a 4x4 with a longbed. There's another one I found that looks to be restored...

Re: Need an opinion on a truck.
That gooseneck ball in the bed is a good indication of something that's probably been worked pretty hard.
Waaay too much rust for the price...if you're going to come to Texas for a truck, make it West Texas. We have much less rain and overall humidity than other parts of the state. The only rigs I see with that much rust have out of state plates... |
