These guys make lexan hoods for jeeps. I think they should make them for chevy pickups. If you're interested EMAIL them and maybe we can get them interested. They would have to spend at least 10 grand for them to get started. I have been talking to them about this subject. See the pictures !!! Weight.....10 pounds.

P.S. I want one for an 83...

after a summer in the sun it would start to check and yellow and look like hell almost as bad as a cheep carbon fiber hood on a honda

It would be cool for about a week, but then all the extra work to keep everything clean would take over the cool factor. Not for a DD.

But I think because it only weighs 10 pounds, you could paint it and use it in a race application.

Hoods like that belong on custom cars and that's it imo. I think of grease lighting from grease when i see that hood.
