New to forum... 68 stepside ls turbo project
Hey guys im new to the forum...
I just bought a 68 stepside from a friend who no longer has time for it. He had a SBC 383 stroker motor built and set into the pickup, rear end swapped to a leaf spring setup, frame all painted, and body/interior stripped down. I have alot of extra body panels and interior parts... basically everything i need except the drivetrain. I plan on doing a 5.3 FM Turbo setup and stalled 4l80e for the drivetrain. But there is alot of body work and paint to be done first. It should be a really fun setup when done! It seems to be a pretty simple straight foreward swap... although every project has its suprises! lol Here are pictures as it sits (dont have pictures of all the parts, there are alot of them!): Advice, tips, tricks, suggestions ar welcome! This is not my first ls swap, but it is my first swap into a 67-72. |

Looking forward to this one!!!!
My advice would be to read up on the LS swap forum here for specific mounts/headers for these trucks.

My project will be a SLOW project guys, I work more hours a day then i have off during spring/summer/fall (12-16hrs/day 6-7days/week). I will update as things come along, will be quite slow moving till winter rolls around. Saving $$$ and keeping an eye out for a 99+ donor pickup for now. |

Got the pickup and parts home.... the box i have is a late 70's box and im not so sure i like it
I am on the search for a 67-72 Stepside Box... or i might end up buying some 67-72 wheel wells since one wheel well will need replaced anyway... Hoping to start body work as i have time... Last edited by 68GMC5.3; 04-18-2011 at 12:29 AM. |
