Re: Which one ????

Leave it the way it is.....it accents the valve covers...plus IMO if you painted it black it would just blend in with the valve covers..

Re: Which one ????

I say aluminum, but I also have a very specific idea of how engines should look.

Small blocks.

Block
Color- Orange
Exception- None

Heads
Color- Orange
Exception- Aluminum heads can be natural, unless painted for "Sleeper"

Intake
Color- Orange
Exception- Aluminum intakes should be raw

Timing Cover/Oil Pan
Color- Orange
Exception- Chrome/Zinc/Cadmium plating

Valve Covers
Color- Chrome/Zinc/Cadmium
Exception- Factory painted covers should be orange

Water Pump
Color- Orange
Exception- Billet pumps

Accessory Brackets
Color- Black
Exception- Aluminum brackets raw, or silver painted

Pulleys
Color- Black
Exception- Billet, or chrome

Headers
Color- White
Exception- Chrome, Ceramic coating

What can I say, I have issues...

Re: Which one ????

I would paint it, but not black. It looks good now, but won't stay that way long. Get a high temp aluminized silver that matches your headers and it will rock...

Oh yeah, cut that carb stud shorter too....

Re: Which one ????

I agree 99% , I paint my headers red. my girlfreind fought to paint the MonteCarlo engine yellow. I told her it's a Chevy and orange is the only color that will work with it !
also pollish'd intakes hold heat more so than natural.
