Truck transporting??
I'm looking at having a truck transported from tennessee to Missouri, got some online qoutes and found some Big differences! Some require a deposit as soon as the vehicle is picked up and some want it all at time of delivery. Also read some reviews about people getting ripped off by some of these companys..anyone here have any experiance with a good reliable transporter? what to stay away from?

Re: Truck transporting??
Just had a truck shipped from Michigan to Maryland.
Based on what I saw, I would probably never have my vehicle shipped by an independent carrier. I will likely do it myself from now on. In the past, I had my cars shipped from Arizona to Michigan via Reliable. They were pretty dirty when they arrived but otherwise ok. K

Rob, did you check with randy? I know he found out some things in his venture.

Also thought of flying into Nasville and driving it back, may have to see if I can take a day off work.

Re: Truck transporting??
Had good luck with Nationwide Transport. Down payment when vehicle is picked up, good service overall. I think if you go with a really cheap quote, the vehicle will take forever to move. It's not a good time for transporting, cause gas prices are so high right now. Good luck.

Re: Truck transporting??
You should just do it like bruce would. Find a cheap economy car to drive out there, sell it for cheap or scrap it and drive your new toy home. That way you can have tools and everything with you. Maybe even go junkyarding on the way home.
Good luck.

Re: Truck transporting??
I have been hauling cars as a profession for 20 years. My advice is deal direct with a carrier, not a broker. Ask the number of trucks, ask about insurance, ask how a claim process works(in case there is problems). Ask if they have DOT authority, make sure it is going on their truck, not being handed to another carrier(brokered, do they have DOT authority to broker). You can check the carriers rating on www.safersys.org and insuranceand authority info. ]
Federal law requires the truck to get paid, either prepaid or COD, if there is a claim, the truck still must get paid and then a claim is filed. Should a company and the client chose to do otherwise, this is outside the law. There are thousands of trucking companies and with the price of fuel it is a cut throat business. |
