Hooker headers and angle spark plugs?

I was just looking at Summit for some headers and saw where the Hooker part number used for our trucks says wont work for angle plug heads.
I am not going to change the heads but I want a good quality header. Is anyone else running angle plugs on thier trucks? What have you found that works well?
Thanks in advance

Do the dart heads have "D" shaped exhaust ports too?
Where did you buy your Doug's?

Re: Hooker headers and angle spark plugs?

I run Hooker Super Comps with Victor Jr angle plug heads with no problems at all! I can change my plugs in 10 minutes or so, and no burnt wires. I also run good MSD wires.

I had some on a Carmaro years ago and they were very easy to change the plugs too, with angle plugs
I'm guessing the tubes are diffrent on the super comps, are those the racing version from Hooker?

I'm not sure, They have a 3" collector with a flange, but they are 1-3/4 tubes.

Re: Hooker headers and angle spark plugs?

I have Hooker Headers and they clear my angle plugs OK. I think mine are the Competition (not 100% sure) Headers. They're 1 5/8 primaries with 2 1/2 collectors. They also clear the clutch linkage for my manual tranny too. The only plug that's a slight issue is the spark plug boot on cylinder 5 comes very close to the header pipe. Just to be safe I have a ceramic sleeve over it and have had no issues.

The Hooker's I was looking into are a part number 2452-1 and are the Competition Headers. I have always seen the angle plug heads as easier to deal with when changing plugs and clearing the tubes, I was really suprized when I read "not for angle plugs"

Re: Hooker headers and angle spark plugs?

I should have the receipt showing exactly what I bought in a file at home. I'm out on a business trip the rest of today. I'll look it up when I get home tomorrow.

Re: Hooker headers and angle spark plugs?

Old Yeller and I must have the same ones, they came on my truck. I put a sleeve on the #5 plug. The only prob I have is needing to trim the flange a tad for the #1, 7 2 and 8 plugs, the socket hits the flange when putting in plugs. Maybe a cheaper/thinner spark plug socket would work too.

Re: Hooker headers and angle spark plugs?

JMac11, Do you still use the stock heads/plugs? Mine are aftermarket heads that use the smaller socket size so I don't have any clearance issues with the flange.

More of a square port. Summit racing and 0 clearance issues. with plugs or ground clearance

Just wondering if you had a chance to look up what headers you have.
Based on what I have seen here I did go ahead and ordered the 2452-1 Hookers. I can see no reason for any clearance issues for he angled plugs, from past experience with angled plugs it made things easier.
wish me a little luck here.
Thanks for all your input guys
