Can a bed for a lwb be made to fit a swb.
Someone mentioned cutting a bed for a lwb down to size of a swb. Is this possible?

I think that there are some guys on here who have done this, but wouldn't it be simpler to find a good short bed?

It would be easier to buy a short bed because you figure your hours and having to buy bedsides anyway(instead of welding pieces here and there.) You would have alot of money invested in that and some headaches I'm sure. If you are going to use the bed I would suggest you buy the bed sides then start cutting.

i rmeember a blue 70 pickup in a magazine about 3 or 4 years back and the guy has cut off some of the very end of the bed and narrowed the rear frame 4", looked badassed ! had some wiiiiide tires on it !
wish i had a scanner then i could scan it all to shorten a lwb bed you probably owuld take 12" out of the front of it just the same as when shortening a lwb frame into a swb |

I've seen that exact thing done before and it doesn't look right. The body line on the long bed is not as curved. its much straighter because its longer. Just doesn't have that nice arching flow line the short beds have......just my opinion......

The truck my boy got, that is exactly what they did. The front of the bed was shortend ant the sides patched in will hardly be able to tell that it was a long bed, was placed on a 79 short wheel base truck I am told with fron discs. We are pleased. Ed ke6bnl
