I don't think anyone makes a repro grill. I've looked around but it looks like the only way to get one is Craigslist, swap meet or wrecking yard. I'll keep looking to see if I can get a better one but if I can't then I'll get mine rechromed

A few years ago American Classic offered refurbished/chromed GMC grilles, but they quickly ran out of usable cores. The GMC grilles are no longer listed in their catalog.
http://americanclassic.com/ I bought a mint used grille a number of years ago on eBay for a very reasonable price, but the shipping was $85-$100 as I remember. These things are very fragile and challenging to protect for shipment. |

Good for you. It's very rare to see a "perfect" chrome GMC grille. Even most of the replated examples I've seen at rod runs are wavy under the chrome.

I saw one at the swapmeet this weekend the guy wanted 275 for it and it was just a little cleaner than mine. I would have thought that the GMC grills would be easier to find. It was the only one out of hundreds of sellers at the Pomona swapmeet. That's a REALLY cool motorhome. It's the kind of project I would love to have. Maybe someday......

Did all the chrome grills come with chrome headlight bezels. I can't tell from mine if it was chromed or painted grey.

They would have been chrome from the factory. Perhaps because they weren't as easy to clean as the grille, the headlight rims are often rusty on the chrome grilles. I've seen them painted silver, body color, and just about everything else to conceal the tarnished finish.

I wanted to run a dual headlight setup on mine but it was WAY out of budget. Then I got hooked up with a perfect aluminum grill, so I'm happy.
