Where did you buy your brake line kit? Did you like?

I need to find a brake line kit for my project. Where did you guys buy your's? Did you like it? were the bends close? I have heard some pretty good stuff about Inline but the price ain't cheap. I'm on a super tight budget but I may have pony up to get some good lines. Anyone used LMC or similar company products? any suggestions welcome.

Mike, I have used "Classic Tube" and "The Right Stuff". I am happy with both. Last time I used Classic Tube because the fittings were also stainless and its only 80 miles from me. Good Luck! Terry

Re: Where did you buy your brake line kit? Did you like?

I have used Inline Tube a couple of times. Classic Tube is only about 10 miles from me, but their stainless complete brake line kit is listed at $299 online as opposed to Inline's $185. Maybe they include more - I don't know. Inline did send me the wrong front lines for my 70 4X4 when I was doing that, but they rectified the problem quickly and didn't want the wrong lines back. I have since found out that they were for a 71 as they will fit my 71 Blazer (current project).

Hey Terry (WILLNIK) -hello to another Western (well Central almost) New Yorker. Think we've met and spoken before if you had a Blue and White Chevy for sale a couple of years ago. Rick

Re: Where did you buy your brake line kit? Did you like?

I got mine from the Truck Shop in Orange. They worked out great....but beware that some of the lines will be "bent" to make them fit in a shipping box, so they will need some straightening and additional bending when you set them up. I believe this is how the manufacturer sells them to ALL the vendors. I bought mine at the counter and they were still bent to fit in a box.

I got the lines for my 72 from Inline also. Fit was right on, as was the fuel line from pump to carb.

Re: Where did you buy your brake line kit? Did you like?

Okay, Thanks to everyone for their comments. So consensus pretty much says inline tube. So, what about stainless versus the oem steel? the price is the $30 bucks extra worth it? I have heard of issues with sealing the SS line. Also, doesn't inline tube nickel and dime you to death for all the "hardware" that's not included with the $185 kit?

Dang, that sure seems like a bunch of cash for tubing and fittings. Anyone built their own lines with a hand bender? Bet that takes some serious time, not to mention cutting and re-doing lines multiple times.

Hey, I am in the process of finishing my rear end install. I used a 73-87 style 12 bolt differential. So are the fittings different? or did the lines bend different? thanks

Re: Where did you buy your brake line kit? Did you like?

InLine Tubes via GMC Pauls. Didn't fit like originals, had to do a bunch of rebending. They are stainless. Should have bought straight sections of stainless and bent the brake lines myself, would have turned out better, taken less time and cost less.

Was it the front or back you had to tweak to make fit? or both?

Inline tube here also, no complaints, fit great. Did have to buy a mounting clip kit. I got my fuel lines and trans cooling lines from there also. All fit great.

Had to bend the 3/16 & 1/4 lines in the front. Had to bend the 1/4 line that runs down the passengers side of the frame. I'm still not finished, after I get my cab remounted and my master cylinder mounted I will need to finish bending the lined to connect to the master cylinder. Really unhappy with the lines.

Re: Where did you buy your brake line kit? Did you like?

Stay away from Classic Tube. Sent lines that didnt fit the differential, had to send my origionals (at my expense) for them to copy. Made it seem that the poor fit was my fault. I would not deal with again.

Any good parts store will have them. I buy most of mine at Carquest, allthough NAPA would have it all

Okay,
I got my inline tubes in yesterday. Only problem I don't know for sure where the lines go. My frame was completely bare when I got it. Anyone, have some pics of the rear end installed? thanks

No pix, but the hard lines run down the inside of the right frame rail. There's a Tee that feeds a flex line that goes to the rear axle. Hard lines to each side and flex to the wheel cylinders.

Does that help?
