Altenator mounting? Going from ramhorn to headers

I have brackets for ram horn mounting but have switched to headers. Can I some how use those to mount with headers? The lower bracket used to bolt to the Ram Horn but now those are gone. I am just trying to figure out what I need now to mount the altenator.

Anyone want to share and thoughts or photos of their setup on a 350 SBC?

Thanks

Do you have holes in your heads? If yes, just use the 69-72 (I think) style mounts

....I wish it still looked this good..

Re: Altenator mounting? Going from ramhorn to headers

Are you wanting a stock or aftermarket look? Passenger or drivers side?

I picked up an inexpensive alternator bracket from Skip White

Pretty much going for the stock look, but this helps.

Re: Altenator mounting? Going from ramhorn to headers

I was looking at that. How does it mount though? I wonder if it bolts with the header?

Re: Altenator mounting? Going from ramhorn to headers

Are you using tall or short valve covers? The factory style wont fit with tall valve covers. The bracket that is posted in the pic needs another one to work properly. I think I should have a couple if you want one. They bolt to the header and have another bracket that adjusts to fit the alternator.

Thanks Andy-I've seen this part on Jegs before but can't figure out how it would hook up. I don't have any holes in the head (other than my own!). Will it work with the Ramshorns?

It sounds like you have the ramhorn manifold without a casting for the alt bracket? The bracket pictured above is designed to mount using the front 2 bolts on the header, the opening between the 2 bolts may be too small to clear the cast iron exhaust manifold however it may still work with some customization. You would need to take a die grinder and modify the bracket to get the clearance you need. hope this helps. good luck

I bet if you looked on the parts board here you could find someone who has some original brackets, there are several guys that part out these trucks on a regular basis. good luck

Exactly-I've been looking for some ramshorns with the mounting boss but these are hard to find at a reasonable price. I've got my alternator down low on the only bolt holes available (in the block, driver's side). Works ok but almost no adjustment for belt tension.

Thanks for the reply.
