Some pics of Ol' Crusty

These are the only pictures I have so far. '62 c-10, Stove bolt, three speed, bear bones truck. It was sitting for 15 years, and I payed $700. Someone told me that was too much! I've had it for about two weeks now, and I've got it running and driving. I'm still having some trouble adjusting the clutch as I have the pedal side maxed out, and if I tighten the slave cylinder anymore the clutch wants to slip. I've bleed it 3 times now. I've still got to do some more work the brakes...and the body is another story. I'm not too worried about it being pretty, I kinda perfer it ugly.

Anyway, here's some pictures of the guy pulling it out of the weeds. The back brakes kept locking up as thought it wanted to stay and rot!

I'm still trying to decide what color to paint it? I was thinking maybe OD Green.

From the pics it looks like some nasty rust, but its hard to tell. If your not worried about pretty, then that really doesn't matter. Regardless, its coming back to life and thats a good thing.

It could be that your clutch master cylinder has an internal leak (across the piston). The leak will cause the fluid and pressure to leak out and the clutch will begin to release.

Its easy to test: Watch the clutch fork as someone holds the pedal all the way in. If the master is leaking, the fork will slowly move to the release position.

I would imagine that after 15 years of sitting the master is going to be in bad shape with internal corrosion.

Check your brakes too...

Re: Some pics of Ol' Crusty

I kinda' like Ol' Crusty..
She sort of grows on ya'.

Welcome to the shed...
If you look really close at the second picture,.... if you gaze deeeep into her eyes, you can sure tell that there's a lot of life left in her.

Lookin forward to the day-time shots.

Here's my hi-tech OD green paint scheme...Camo-Olive Ultra Flat most matched my 48 year old faded....patched-up OEM paint.
Pro-paint in a can.

You know what color I'd vote for...

Ol' Crusty might be OK, but those are the crappiest pictures in the history of pictures.

Oh, I don't know about that...the fuzzed pictures add an element of dark mystery to the truck. Cant wait to see the coming-out.

Here's one of my Dodge in case you were interested. It's getting an overdrive tranny, so Ol' Crusty is going to be my daily commuter for a little while.

Well, nobody will be asking "Why did you name it Ol' Crusty?" It sure has character... I like it!

Are you planning to leave all that character and just focus on the drivetrain and mechanicals?

For now yes. I'll take my time and accumulate body parts. Right now it runs and drives okay. I rebuilt all the wheel cylinders, replaced some of the lines and hoses, and now it stops like a champ. The driver side glass is falling apart so I'll have to have a new piece cut pretty soon if I don't want to get rained on... It's so rusty, I'll probably get wet either way.

I've had some tell me I payed to much, and some tell me it's a deal, so I don't know what to think. I can tell you this though: It's rustiness offends many, and for that it is a BLAST too drive. All my buds are in love with it. The exhaust is still quiet (amazing that it isn't rusty up) the engine runs good with good oil pressure. I had to rebuild the wheel cylinders, and replaces a few hoses and lines...but it was all really cheap. It also needed a master, and slave cylinder for the clutch. But the question is, if I needed my money back, could I get $700 for it?....I bought it didn't I?..so maybe? Maybe with a new hood and some primer I could get $1,000? A friend of mine actually found me a hood much better than mine for free!

Re: Some pics of Ol' Crusty

I hope you leave Crusty just as she sits. I love it, don't mess with her personality.

I love the charger too. I also have an unrestored '66 Dodge Coronet 500, and a stock '74 Dodge Dart, and an untouched 1925 Dodge Roadster that sees about 30 miles per week. People want to know if I'll restore the '25, but no way...she will keep her original personality.

Here are some pictures of Crusty now that I've done some work to it. It's not so "crusty" anymore.

Okay, didn't work the first time. Lets try again:

And one before:
