Are the brake lines on separate systems on my 68? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Are the front and back separate or are they all one system? I had a hose go in the front, replaced it and bled it and now all is good. Only the font chamber of the master cylinder was dry.

I wanna say its seperate. Look at your master cylinder. If there are 2 resevors(sp?), its a seperate line to front and back. If its one big hole, you have what they called a suicide cylinder and if your hose blew, you had NO brakes. I had a 65 impala that blew a hose and you found out real quick why they called it an emergency brake(grin).

The US government took care to make us safer, for '67. AMC was the first to have the system that they called Dual/Diagonal braking. The other manufacturers separated the front from the rear, instead of pairing up one front with the opposite side rear.
