Hood latch problem
When I trip the latch for the hood release on my 72, it trips but the hood will not "jump" up enough so that I can get a hand under it to lift it up. Matter of fact it doesn't "jump" at all.
It has new hood spring and brackets on the rear of the hood. Any ideas??????

Re: Hood latch problem
I had a similar problem with my 67. When I took the latch mechanism off I could tell the little sliding piece that locks the hood in was bent and was not allowing the hood to pop out. I had to beat it with a hammer to get it back in shape. Not sure if that is your problem but it sounds like it's hanging up on something.

spray to heck out of latch with wd40 to clean then put white grease on to lubricate the mechanism

Re: Hood latch problem
Sounds like ya need to adjust yer hood hinges. My GMC used to do that, till I re-adjusted them. Now it pops up just fine. Hope this helps?

Re: Hood latch problem
I'm subscribing to this one. I have the same problem on my 72. I was attributing mine to the dent in the outer grille, but after straigtening it some the problem is still there. My 67 pops right up.

Re: Hood latch problem
I just loosened my hinges and rotated them to the rear. Raised the front enough to cause the front lip of the hood to pop up a little so you can get yer fingers under it to raise the hood.

Re: Hood latch problem
After the cleaning and lubing of the latch, you might want to try adjusting the latch. You can loosen the hood latch part and move it around, and this might help your problem. Good luck
