Electric fans

I am planning on running 2 14" Perma Cool electric fans on my new motor. A guy at work told me not to use the nylon fastners to attach them to the radiator, b/c it could rub a hole in the copper tubing. Has anyone else ever heard of this?

I have my fans laying right on the radiator, but not mounted with the nylon zip straps. I don't like the idea of sticking the things through my radiator. I doubt they would cause harm or else they would come out with something better by now, right? But I still wouldn't use them either. Make some mounting straps out of some flat metal and fasten it to the top and bottom of the radiator. If they do indeed lay against the radiator, like they should, you don't want them sliding around, or this will eventually rub a hole.

Nah, nylon isn't abrasive. THe most it'll do is rub off the paint, and maybe put a nice shine on the copper. To each their own..

Dave mounted his side by side I believe, he ought to be on later and can post some pictures. Basically whatever you prefer.

Here's an old pic of how mine are mounted. But my fans are not Perma Cools. My fans are Spals. It doesn't really matter where they are location wise. Gerardo mounted his the way he did because they were to big to have side by side.

Dave what did you use to mount yours with? I'm going to use the same fan setup you got.
