throttle pedal???????

i got an offer today to trade my blazer for a 69 chevy 1 ton 4x4, dana 60 front,14bolt rear, turbo 400/205, all running gear out of 1986 1ton, new paint, few touch ups needed, brand new wheels still in boxes, new bench seat, factory tach, all new chrome, but the guy im trading says i have to change the throttle pedal assy to work right with that trans, any info help pics are a bonus

I believe the 69 has the rod set-up and the newer trucks have the cable set up? I could be wrong though as all I have ever owned are 72 models.

The '69 would be a throttle rod setup. He might be talking about getting the electric kickdown for the TH400 to work. A Lokar setup will work for that with the throttle rod. You need there carb mount for the kick down as well, probably about $125 total cost involved.

in reality, you can go 100,000 miles without the kickdown. It only controls kicking the tranny into first, it'll do a 3 to 2 downshift without it.
Now it it has a cable kickdown, and is only a 3 speed, then it is a TH350 and it should be hooked up. You can still go 100k on it without, but it does benifit more than just on the passing gear.

LHM is correct in that you don't need the kickdown for a TH400, but it does make it a little more fun to drive. You would need the Lokar TH400 Kickdown kit and their throttle cable bracket. It's cable operated and the switch mounts on the frame by the transmission, there are already holes in the frame to mount it.

This is interestibng because I am going to a Lokar Billet Gas Pedal for my 72 GMC. It has a Turbo 350, and while it does kick down, after 50 MPH, I have no "Passing Gear", by simply mashing the Gas Pedal.
Sorry...not trying to Hijack the Thread. It was just intyeresting to see the responses.

your cable either needs adjusted, or you have too steep a rear gear and kicking it into second at 50+ would run the RPMs too high
