Mid 13's?
Just a curious question, my freind took his B18 civic to the track and ran 14 seconds. Im wondering what it would take to move a Long Box 2wd into the mid 13's. If you guys have combos that do that, please let me know what you did.

Re: Mid 13's?
Small block or big block can both get you where you want to go. But it depends on what drivability your looking for..and how much you want to spend. Either way..won't be cheap

my truck ran low 13's with a 383... flat top pistons, older Dart Pro 1 200 cc 64 cc Chambers, Comp EX284 Hydraulic Flat tappet cam, RPM air-Gap, Demon 750 this was dyno-ed at 430 HP

Comp XE274 or XE 284 or a similar Lunati Voodoo Cam or Roller Cam Flat top pistons, Air gap or Vic Jr intake , 750 CFM Carb... you'll need a 2500 -3000 RPM Converter 3.73 or higher gears Good ignition system Don't Scrimp on heads... Most of your horsepower comes from the heads. Why not a 383 ??? it is just as cheap to do a 383 as a 350 Last edited by jrcaprai; 04-24-2011 at 02:19 PM. |

Re: Mid 13's?
Thanks Jr! What about a 400 block instead of a 383? 400 with vortecs, ported and polished, planed. RPM air gap, and a 750 carb?

Re: Mid 13's?
just go with the newer technology small block...and LSx. A 6.0 with a few bolt ons would get you there. You don't have to go EFI either....

Re: Mid 13's?
Porting is not cheap! here are some prices for just porting, and that is not including Hardware... Rocker studs, Valves, retainers, locks, seals, etc...
it makes the 1300.00 look pretty good Cylinder Head Porting from Dr j's and speiers racing heads Includes the following Fully radius short turns on the intake and exhaust streamlined guide bosses on intake and exhaust maximized push rod pinch opening bowls blended to gasket matched Before and After flow testing At Dr J's Performance we do not believe on individual stages of porting, because it does not benefit the costumer. Our goal is to provide the customer with most amount of performance per dollar spent. Every head that leaves Dr J's performance is ported to its maximum potential. Aluminim Heads starting at $ 700.00 Cast Iron Heads Staring at $ 825.00 STANDARD PORTING* This includes valve job and all the critical areas sized to your combo, throat, bowl porting, and chamber finished. Exhaust port cleaned up. The areas worked are then blended. This is NOT a full hard rolled port. I'll give you the flow sheet for future cam choices and combos. 18-20 hours of grinding and flow bench work. Prices start at $1000 for SBC FULL PORTING* All out porting and velocity profiles. This includes multi angle valve job, hand blended. All of the above with a fully hard rolled intake and exhaust port and chamber. Exhaust port exit is sized. Exhaust port is FULLY polished. Contouring the guides. Port mapping to achieve proper velocity. Chamber is sized to bore. Attention to detail is above and beyond!! Prices start at $1350 for SBC. *The valve seat area is the most critical part of the flow path in a competition cylinder h |
