1972 C10 project truck need advice - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Owned GM trucks my whole life and always wanted to buy a 2nd generation chevy to restore. I wanted to find something that would be a project but not overwhelming and too costly to start.
Found a 1972 C10 on a local craigslist and hoping to get some input from those here.
It's a 8' long box 350 with 3 speed auto. All original.
needs rockers and cab corners but otherwise all there in decent shape.
Here's a few pics.
is $2,700 too much?

Not knowing what your local market is, it is hard to say. Sounds a bit high to me, but I am cheap. I have seen several trucks here listed for around that, but don't know if they sold or not. I see a lot for the $1000-2000 mark in Oregon, in similar shape (got lucky and only paid $650 for mine).

Corners and rockers are common for rust, as you have found out.

If it runs and drives, you can enjoy it while you tackle one project at a time. Plus, you have a better idea of what it needs if it actually moves (and stops) under it's own power.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same thing and got him down to $2,200 on the phone. 2 hour drive to check it out so trying to get as much info before I decide to make the trip. There are a few others out there but I'm really looking to get a '72 and something stock rather than customized.

If you go to the top of this page there is a Google Search Box. Type in "areas to check for rust" without the quotes, click on the circle in front of "67-72chevytrucks.com" and click on the Google button. You will find some threads about where to look for rust on these trucks....

any input on good online stores for parts. I'll need a few good quality body panels and some exterior door trim. I know of LMC but any others out there?

There are lots of board vendors here that carry anything you might need....GMCPauls and Classicheartbeat are a couple.

Price seems high to me, but I am on the West coast....in your neck of the woods, that's probably a good price.
