Parts for 80' Silverado Engine
I'm fairly new to this site (as a poster, not a reader) I am finally getting around to ordering parts for my truck to get it back on the road again.
Specs: 350 bored 0.30 over mild cam Edelbrock performer intake and carb Questions: 1. What fuel pump do I go with? http://www.summitracing.com/search/D.../?Ns=Price|Asc 2. Truck has been sitting a while, what all is recommended to getting the brakes where they are safe? 3. The a/c isn't working and I will want that. I know my compressor has a leak in it. The condenser is good but the drier won't be. Where should I go to get a good condenser for cheap, go with a reman? What else should I buy for it other than the compressor and dryer? 4. Truck is a Silverado with almost all the options however it doesn't have intermitten wipers, what does it take to add factory intermitten wipers? is this just a switch or is there more to it? Thanks guys for all of your help.

Re: Parts for 80' Silverado Engine
RockAuto.com has pretty good prices on A/C parts. Get a dryer, compressor, and a metering orfice at a minimum. Adapter ports if it hasn't been converted to 134 yet. I pulled my evaporator and it was pretty dirty. I washed and hosed it off good. (see my Defroster Debacle thread). I haven't finished charging mine yet, hopefully this week. Good Luck!

Re: Parts for 80' Silverado Engine
I've never bought anything from RockAuto before, prices seem decent. I found a four seasons reman ac compressor on Ebay for 85.xx is that a good price? comes with a 6 month warranty.
what is the metering orfice, where is that located at? Thanks for the info.

Re: Parts for 80' Silverado Engine
Can anyone suggest an electric fuel pump and tell me why I should go with the eletric or the mechanical pump? How good are the Mr. Gasket fuel pumps?

Re: Parts for 80' Silverado Engine
RockAuto is great, I've bought tons of stuff from them and if you do a quick search you could find a discount code for 5% off. I have my stuffed shipped to work 'cause it's cheaper. Unless it's a "name brand" company I tend to shy away from ebay for new parts. I'll see if I can post a picture of the orfice and location later this evening. It's not rocket science, just kind of a PITA.

Re: Parts for 80' Silverado Engine
![]() ![]() ![]() OK, first picture shows location, it is the bottom (high pressure) line into the evaporator. Second picture shows correct orientation of the tube. third picture has part number (AC-Delco). They can be a pain to get out, sometimes needle-nose pliers will grip them, but I usually use hemostats.Hope that helps.

If you want an electric, these are good. I use one with no problem. If you want a good mechanical, try a Carter from RockAuto. You shouldn't need anything "trick" (hi pressure/hi volume) just a good dependable piece. Just my .02.

Re: Parts for 80' Silverado Engine
Well I just got done spending 150.xx at rockauto.com Their prices are pretty good compared to Autozone. I ordered all of the a/c stuff except the compressor from their and a new power steering pump (mine is a hydroboost and the outer casing is bad). Thanks for the tips.
