You need:
1) 71-72 upper ball joints.
2) 71-87 lower ball joints.
3) 71-72 outer tie rod ends.

These spindles only work with 1.25" rotors, calipers, and bearings.
If your '87 has the light duty 1" rotors,... all of that stuff will have to be changed.

Re: belltech 3120 drop spindles

Just curious,... did you get a smokin deal on these spindles?
I was wondering why you didn't buy the 3100 (HD) or 3200 (LD) Belltech spindles.

Yeah super duper smokin deal $40 for the pair brand new had to get them lol......Yeah I have the 1.25" rotors also so they will work and thanks for the reply on what to get....one last question about them.....I plan on a front dropmember from porterbuilt they will work for Nate's dropmember even though it says 73-87 spindles or should these out for a pair of the 3100's????? I'll have to drill out the outer tie rod end for the rack already so whats your take on that portion of it????

They will work with the DM, you'll just have to use the 71-72 upper BJs...

Re: belltech 3120 drop spindles

I just got a hold to some Belltech spindles today and they are stamped 31200. The guy I bought them from says he took them off a 73-87. He says he also thinks they are 2'' drop spindles but when I looked at Belltech's website they dont have any 2" spindles for 73-87, only 3". Also they dont have a parts number for 31200, only 3100 and 3200. Im thinking they are 3'' for a 73-87 but I could be wrong. They fit my 73-87 upper ball joints. Any thought on what I really have??

thanks
Slim

Application is 71-72.

Re: belltech 3120 drop spindles

Thanks Keith. Ok but my control arms are for a 73-87. Can you see anything in the pic that would say they aren't fitting correctly? Also I assume that 3120 is the same as the 31200 that's stamped on the spindle??

Re: belltech 3120 drop spindles

I can't be sure by your pics.
Could the upper balljoint be a 71-72 balljoint?
71-72 and 73-87 trucks use the same lower balljoint.
The outer tie rod is different.

I would bolt them on and use them!

Re: belltech 3120 drop spindles

Do I have to change my calipers too? I know I have to change the rotors to the heavy duty ones along with the bearings... The auto parts guys are saying its only one caliper # for both LD and HD rotors

Light duty rotors take a different caliper.
Your parts guy is wrong.

As usual. It didn't sound right. If I ask for an older model like a 75 maybe it'll automatically give me the HD???

I usually tell the parts guy it's a '73.
That gets you a caliper for 1-1/4" rotors with the non-metric banjo bolt for the brake hose.
