sway bar

have a few prices on some front sway bars. only question i have is, is 1 3/8 to big? it would cost me an extra $30. if not 1 /1/8 would be the choice.

truck is. 1984 GMC 1/2 ton 2WD

find a 1.25'' bar of a factory 1 ton truck, or maybe a 3/4 ton truck. add some energy suspension bushings and call it a day
it'll be a lot cheaper too

the frame i used never had a sway bar on it when i got it.

with sway bars, bigger is better. and if the truck didn't have a factory sway bar you'll need the two brackets that the front sway bar bushings bolt to. they are riveted to the frame from the factory

yea, i'll need to take a closer look at the frame, not sure if they were removed, or like you said it didnt come from factory.

Where are you finding a 1 3/8" bar? They never made one from the factory that I am aware of. They offered a 1" that came on some C10 trucks and most Burbs. They had a 1 1/4" that was available on C20 and C30 trucks too.

Regardless, you will need the factory hardware including the frame "stands" that the bushing clamps mount to. If your truck is lowered you can run the Early Classic Enterprises short stands. If your truck is really low you can bolt the clamps directly to the frame. The amount of drop you have will determine what method of mounting will work best for your truck.

My belltech is 1-3/8". I would say its not overkill at all. It uses the factory mounts on the frame and an endlink setup that mount to the outer holes of the factory lower a arms.

yuupppp 3/4t trucks with a 454..... 15 bucks from my local j/y.....

rule with sway bars: you can never go too big...... u dont want body roll.....none. with my bar i still have what i consider "excessive roll".... poly bushings should do the truck tho.

The belltech is a great choice if you ever plan on aftermarket A-arms. And because its burly. If you want a better value, the 1 ton setup is the way to go.

You'll have to let us know if you notice a difference once you get it put on. I just bought an 1 3/8" front and an 1 1/8" rear this week on craigslist (wasn't looking but couldn't pass it up). I'm in no hurry to get them on, the front is missing two bushings. The 1 3/8" is a big bar!

Has anyone made their own "stands' for the sway bar to mount to? I'm thinking some 1" square tubing or something? I got the sway bar from parts truck, but the truck it's going in never had one. I didn't realize I needed the stands until after the chassis was sold.
