Need help picking out gas tank...

Hope this is the right section to post in... I was going to post in Drivetran but figured either was safe.

As of right now my truck is just frame and suspension so I want to get the gas tank installed. I have no idea what all is involved in installing the tank and gas lines so any help would be great. I am going with fuel injecton so I know that will be important. I am trying to build somewhat of a show truck but will not be a trailer queen so I want the tank to look nice. Most of the aluminum tanks I see are around $500. What other options do I have?

I have also seen one of the builds on here with a pastic tank. They dont look bad but are there any downfalls to the plastic.

Where is the best place to purchase a tank? Who has the best prices?

Well if your goal is to build a real nice truck and fuel injection I would put one of Dave Boyd's tanks in it. I have one in my 65 and it is very well made and the welding is first class. It may cost a little more in the begining but the fact that he builds a tank for fuel injection with the correct pump setup and returns in it is worth the cost for the knowledge that it is going to be right and the fuel system is not going to be an issue.

I know you dont want to spend alot of money but i would say a fuel cell guy tank. i got a 20 or 22 gallon (i forget ). It showed up about a week ago and although i have not installed it, it is a thing of beauty. Solid and well built.I know many people have had similar results from his tanks. Just my $0.02

I'm going blazer tank on mine, just did the mock up last w/e. I am going to spray a bedliner product on it to protect it.

I wouldn't go with the poly tank try to stay with a metal tank. Although you will be running exhaust away from either tank it is even more obvious with the poly tank. Also think out what type of filler you want. The suburban type tank requires a bit more complicated filler spout. Easiest tank installation and less visible are the ones custom made and fill thru the bed floor. But..$500.With the poly tank about half of that. I say spend the bucks for the custom tank.
