Re: sm465 question
I don't think so either but not 100% sure on that.

Re: sm465 question
The NP208 from that TH400 should be 32spl female. I think the Dana 20 from the SM465 is 10spl male, though I could be mistaken on that.

Re: sm465 question
the dana 20 was 10 spline and i believe the 208 is 32 spline, i have heard tht there is an adapter u can use to adapt the 10 spline to the 32 spline but cant seem to find one.

Re: sm465 question
No
Besides ~ the only thing I would put behind a SM465 is a NP205 or 205/203 doubler... all the rest just too weak! My .02

Re: sm465 question
NP208 and NP241 had WAY better crawl ratios and dont require you to be on the brakes constantly when going do large decents. Unless you of course run an 203/205 doubler setup. Which weighs a ton and requires driveline and crossmember mods. Didnt some applications have an SM465 and NP208 combo. Mid to later 80's I believe.

Re: sm465 question
208 did come behind a sm465 and it would be a 32 spline ( my 84 3/4 had this combo )

Re: sm465 question
You could change the mainshaft in the 465. I have a 32 spline 465 shaft laying around.

Re: sm465 question
Advanced Adapters have all the parts you will need to put the sm465 to the 208. As most 4x4 sm465s have short 10 spline, the later ones had a long long 32 spline. With the manual you could get away with a 205 gear reduction as the sm465s first gear is ultra low for pulling power which that low gear with the reduction is lower then the 400 with the 208s reduction.

Re: sm465 question
Why don't you use a 205 behind the 465

Re: sm465 question
I can conferm that, and currently have that combo setting in my trans rack rite now too, outa my 85 from when I swapped to a sm 465/np205 twin stick, the output shaft is about 12 inches long in the trans with that setup and has no shaft coller like the sm465/np205 uses, advance adapters may have something for the conversion but I just recomend scrapyarding it, a trans/t-case combo may be cheeper than the adapters. or atleast the proper trans and adapter that goes between them anyway.
