voltage regulator condenser

I saw voltage regulators at carlisle this week end and they had condensers on them what are they for? And some had date codes on them Any idea if they are the same or differnet

The cond. is a radio supresser. I am not familiar with the date codes but they should all be about the same. They control the voltage at 14 volts. Original equip. GM Delco are temperature compensated. Most aftermarket arn't.
