5 lug conversions ??

Hi guys
I'm going to be startng on a 67 build in the next few months. Right now im trying to find some of the bigger issues. I have 2 frames and they are both drum brakes. It is my understanding that you can use newer spindels and discs if you drill the spindels for bigger ball joint is this correct? I can get brakes and spindels off of a 84 2wd will these work with this method? Also on the rear I have to fill in and redrill the axels to 5x5 is this correct. Any info is appericated. Also my budget will be very limited on this project so I can't just buy conversion kits.
