a friend of mine had the brakes go out on his truck and he got an estimate for 400 bucks to do the brakes, i thought that was really steep, this is for the guy to do it?? so is that high?? its in a small town.

ps. its a 70 chevy half ton

sounds high to me. I live in a town of about 13,000 and a brake job here is about $90 per axle. This is just to replace pads, anything else would be extra.
