NEED HELP w/ the upper tailgate stainless molding install

I installed the trim piece above the tailgate handle and held the left and right pieces up and they look to long. It seems like they would stick out about 3/4" past the end of the tailgate on each side. I know they install with clips but maybe I dont fully understand how to install them. I'm at work so I dont have pictures but my thread "First Time on the Board" under the blazer section has lots of pictures. I appreciate all of the help.

Re: NEED HELP w/ the upper tailgate stainless molding install

my understanding is that the trim pieces slip over the middle chrome piece that you already have on the tailgate. If you are thinking that he trim pieces mount right at the end of the center piece you might be getting that extra length from that. I had to modify a few clips when i recently installed my new trim. They were the ones at the very edge and wouldn't allow me to get the trim end flush with the end of the tailgate. Ground them down a little and now my trim looks real good. hope what I mentioned helps.
