Front was to low, now to high.

I want it to sit level. Truck has drop spindles. It had 2 inch lower front coils. The rear was 3 inches higher then the front. I replaced the front coils with original height ones. Now the rear is one inch lower then the front. If I cut one coil off of the front coils will that lower the front one inch. The rear has a flip kit in it. The original coils are 2 inches taller then the 2 inch drop coils, so I thought it would come up 2 inches. It came up more then 2 inches. Thanks.

I would cut half a coil and see how it sits. Its no fun to pull them twice if you need to cut them again, but a whole lot easier than trying to make them longer after they have been cut.

Re: Front was to low, now to high.

I found out that the auto parts store gave me heavy duty front coils. Could that be why the truck sits to high?

Re: Front was to low, now to high.

I would do exactly as N2Trux suggested. I have HD coils in the front of my truck. I cut one full coil off and it gave me a 2" drop.

Re: Front was to low, now to high.

Would light duty coils lower the front 2 inches, or would I need to cut one coil out of them too?

Re: Front was to low, now to high.

You would also need to cut one coil off of the regular coils as well to get a 2" drop. The only difference between regular and HD coils is the rate, with the HD coils being stiffer and rated to hold more weight. They are the same height.

I'd use the HDs over stock too.

Re: Front was to low, now to high.

I just ordered 1 inch shorter coils. Maybe this will give me the height I want.

Also, don't forget - new springs will sit a bit higher until you break them in.

I got the 1 inch shorter springs in today. It looks better. I will see how it looks in a week or two.

Re: Front was to low, now to high.

Here are pics of the 87. The first shows the truck with 2 inch shorter front springs. You can't see it very well, because it is in the driveway. It is sloped downhill. It sat 3 inches higher in the rear. Second pic is with 1 inch shorter front springs. It now sits one inch higher in the rear. I wanted it to sit level.
