Heater control valve

Hey everyone i have a question regarding the heater system, Is there suppose to be a heater control valve going into heater in the cab? My truck is a 63 with the recirculating heater system, as I am putting the truck back together I noticed that heater core will always be hot no way to isolate it during the summer months, don't need any additional heat here in Texas during the summer I could not find anything in the manual nor the net and i don't know if the PO removed it. So any help would be appreciated Thanks

Re: Heater control valve

I use a manual shut-off in the hose.

Re: Heater control valve

I use a shut off valve that I turn off under the hood. I did have one that was sort of manual, I used my choke cable and hooked it to a valve I got from Old Air Products that would shut the flow down, it still seeped through and hindered my AC cooling, so I went back to the manual valve.

Re: Heater control valve

make sure you drill a bleed hole in the thermostat if you use a valve or you wont have water circulating under thermostat........
