Compression Check with Carb. Off?
I have my quadrajet off my 350 for a rebuild and want to pull all the plugs and do a compression check on the engine. Any issue with doing a compression check while the carb. is off? I didn't think so as I've alway been told to hold the carb at WOT for compression checking. Just wanted to check this would not give me inaccurate compression readings. I will need to direct the gas line supply into a bucket or something to keep the fuel pump from pumping gas out on top of the intake. Thanks Guys.

You will get more accurate compression results with the carb and exhaust removed. It is not worth the trouble to remove the exhaust. You are only looking for consistency and approximate value.
If you have a mechanical fuel pump I would suggest removing and plugging the incoming fuel line to the pump rather than trying to catch the gas. If you have an electric fuel pump, pull the fuse or disconnect the power to the pump.
